Twenty-seven players showed up for the Fury North Florida tour's third stop on March 13, 2005 at Jewel's Billiards in Gainesville. Two of the players who are strong contenders on the Fury Central Florida tour have taken their games to the North. Julio Aquino was looking for his third win of the Florida season and Tim Daniel was going for his second. Enjoying the points-lead on both tours, Aquino was looking to strengthen his standing; holding third-placed points on the Central tour, Daniel saw opportunity in the North.
Daniel and Aquino met up in the finals after taking different roads to get there. Daniel went undefeated with favorable scores including a 7-2 win over Chris Walls to get into the hot seat. Aquino, on the other hand, lost his first match to Rick Rogers 5-7. He then took to the B side where he started off with four straight 5-1 victories, followed up with two more match wins and a 5-2 victory over Walls to get into the finals. The finals were sure to be close as Daniel was going in with a 5 match record of 35-12 and Aquino was going in with a 7 match B-side record of 35-11.
As the numbers would have it, the finals did come down to one game with Daniel pulling away in a 9-8 victory over Aquino.
The Fury North Florida tour will be in St. Augustine at Anastasia Billiards on April 10th and the event is being co-promoted by a marketing class at Flagler College in St. Augustine.
