On Sunday, April 27th, Mike Zuglan's Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour ended its weekend at Comet Billiards in Parsippany, New Jersey. With a total field of twenty-nine players, the event offered up a total purse of $4320, but in the end, it was Dan Heidrich that would come out on top this time around.
Sunday started out with only four players left on the winners side of the bracket. Dan Heidrich was matched up against Jessie Ramirez; while Adam Kielar was pitted against Jonathan Smith. Heidrich ousted Ramirez by a final score of 9-5, and Keilar finished off Smith 9-6. Both Heidrich and Keilar found themselves in the hot-seat match and although extremely close throughout the entire match, Heidrich ended on the better side of the scorecard with a 9-7 victory under his belt.
The one-loss side commenced with Bucky Souvanthong sending Jason Michas home 9-4, Carmen Lombardo besting Bob Blackmore in a marathon set, and Jonathan Smith avenged an earlier loss to Souvanthong by an eventual 9-5 win. Lombardo then proceeded to push past Ramirez in the next round 9-7, only to fall to Smith 9-6 afterwards in the quarters, setting up a semi-final round between Keilar and Smith. Keilar maintained the momentum of the set and rolled over Smith 9-2 to ensure his spot in the finals.
Continuing on with his run, Keilar forced a second set in the true double elimination final round by overcoming Dan Heidrich 9-3, but by the second set, Heidrich jumped on the train and took down a five pack after sharing racks initially to capture the 9-4 tournament win.
Next stop for the tour will be a $2000 added event at Snooker's in Providence, Rhode Island, May 3rd-4th. Entries are still being accepted for the $25000 added Turning Stone Classic XI to be held August 14th-17th at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York.
