Winner Craig Hintgen and Runner-up Jerry Behnke |
The seventeenth stop on the 2007/2008 Pechauer All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Cuemasters Billiards in Dubuque, IA, on Saturday, December 1. Despite heavy snow conditions, the $500 added event drew seventeen players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Craig Hintgen (Dubuque, IA) marched undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Hintgen (rated a “4” on a regional handicap system used) slipped past Steve Moris [3] (Hazel Green, WI) 4-2. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Hintgen outgunned Toney Bringman [4] (Moreno, IA) 4-0, while Moris took care of Jerry Behnke [4] (Farley, IA) 3-1. In the B-side bracket quarterfinals Adam Behnke [6] (Farley, IA) and Jerry Behnke dispatched Dan Uthe [3] (Dubuque, IA) and Bringman into 5th place by respective scores of 6-2 and 4-0. In the loser's semifinals Jerry Behnke ousted his son Adam 4-3, and Jerry kept his hot hand in the B-side finals by avenging his previous loss to Steve Moris 4-1. The tourney finals could have gone either way, but Craig Hintgen claimed the deciding game in the first set over Jerry Behnke 4-3 for the title.
By virtue of Adam Behnke being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 9-ball singles entry into the 2008 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors J. Pechauer Custom Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric and Nick Varner Signature Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Pechauer All American Tour.
