The BCA Open 9-Ball Championship is complete with a defending champion and a new champion.
Karen Corr successfully defended her title for a second straight year with a 7-4 win over Allison Fisher. Corr won the lag and both players won on their break until game eight when a bank on the 2-ball allowed Karen to run the rack and take a 5-3 lead. Allison won the next game to get back to 5-4, but Corr won the final two for her third straight BCA Open Title.
The men's match was not nearly as competitive as Tony Robles took advantage of a couple unforced errors by Santos Sambajon to cruise to a 7-2 win. Robles won the first four racks and never looked back. Sambajon got on the board in rack five after Robles scratched on a 2-ball, but it was too little too late. The final game saw Robles' nerves get to him a little, but Sambajon could not capitalize and a scratch on the 8-ball by Sambajon was all the chance Robles needed. After making the 8-ball with shape on the 9-ball, Sambajon threw in towel.
Both Corr and Robles earned $15,000 for the win, while Fisher and Sambajon pocketed $7,500 for their efforts.
