If you were in Houston for the last few days and didn’t stop by Bogies, you missed a real treat!
It was the latest iteration of the One Pocket Champions Challenge featuring Bogies’ house pro, Roberto Gomez versus the pride of Oklahoma City, Chip Compton.
The two heavyweights battled for $40K in the middle. The format was a race to 24 over the course of three days – first player to 8, then 16 & finally 24 to take the cash. Roberto was sponsored in the match by Bogies while High Society Dispensary sponsored Chip.
Day One saw Roberto shoot out to a 4-1 lead but Chip clawed his way back and finished the day with an 8-7 lead.
Day Two was all Compton. Gomez just wasn’t his straight shooting self – he struggled throughout the match winning only one game. Final score for the day – 16-8.
Although Roberto seemed to find his game on Day Three, the scoring deficit was just too big for him to overcome. Chip steadily maintained his lead and cruised to victory 24-14.
Congratulations to Chip for a well-played match! Good job, Roberto!
Thanks are in order for the topnotch commentary provided by One Pocket Hall of Famer Jeremy Jones as well as Houston’s own, Sylver Ochoa.
PoolActionTV would like to thank Bogies’ owner Cody Parrish and his staff who, as always, laid out the red carpet for the players and fans.
We’d also like to thank our fans and sponsors without whom none of this would be possible. They include John Barton of JB Cases, Hanshew Jump Cues, Fort Worth Billiards Superstore, Lomax Custom Cues, Diamond, Durbin Custom Cues, Aramith, Simonis and High Society Dispensary.
Stay tuned for more action soon!!!
