A field of 26 strong players came out on a cold sunday morning for the latest stop on the New England 9-Ball Series at TJ's Classic Billiards in Waterville, ME. Some of the notables in attendance included Dave Hall Mike Dechaine, Rick Sleeper, Dave Rodrick and Ivo Petrov.
The match for the hot seat came down to Cody Francis vs. Dave Hall. This match seemed like it would be a one sided battle. Cody came out firing and won the first 4 games in a race to 7. Dave Hall wasn't done yet. He came back and won the next 5 games to go ahead 5-4. Cody quickly saw his lead slip away, but suddenly Dave made a mistake and Cody took advantage and won the next 3 games to take his spot in the finals.
In the semi finals, Mike Dechaine took on Dave Hall. This match was like a horse race for the first 10 games, until Mike made a shooting error and it gave Dave a chance to go ahead 6-5. The next rack Dave would run out and take his place in the finals, for a rematch against Cody.
In the single race to 11 finals, Cody came out firing and won the first 6 games. Dave came right back with 7 games of his own, and made the score 7-6. Dave won the next 2 games to go ahead 9-6. Cody wasn't done yet though. He was determined to win this tournament, and won the next 4 games to get to the hill at 10-9. Dave ran out the next game to make it hill-hill, but Cody broke and ran the last rack for his first victory of the year.
