Tony 'T-Rex' Chohan, a 144 rated player in the USPPA system, has won the USPPA Pro Am Classic at the Sands Regency Hotel and Casino in Reno, NV.
Chohan remained unbeaten until Sunday night when he dropped an 8-3 match to Richard Burns, a 160 rated player. Burns continued on the winners side until he lost to Gerardo Jamito, rated 148, for the hot-seat. Burns took the trip to the one-loss side and found The T-Rex waiting for him with a score to settle. Chohan avenged the earlier loss with an 8-7 victory over Burns to send Burns to the bleachers with $1500 and a 3rd place finish.
The true double elimination finals went two sets with Chohan winning the first set 8-3, and then winning the deciding set 8-5. Chohan pocketed $3000 for first place while Jamito settled for $2000 for first.
The USPPA Pro Am Classic takes place once every six months just prior to the Reno Open. The Reno Open gets started on Tuesday and is expecting another all-star field.
