The Texas Open Nine Ball Championships ended with twin double-dips on Monday as WPBA Touring Pro Belinda Campos-Calhoun came back from the one-loss side to defeat Orietta Strickland 9-7 and 9-3 in the finals of the women's division.
Following that match, the men's finals ended in a 3 1/2 hour double elimination match as Jui Lung Chen defeated Jeremy Jones 9-7 and 9-8. The final match saw Chen get to the hill first at 9-7, but Jones won the following game to tie the score at 8-8 with Jones breaking. The break turned out to be a disadvantage for Jones as he scratched and left a wired 4-9 combo on the table for Chen to finish off the match with.
Chen collected $3500 for first place, while Jones settled for $2250. David Gutierrez and Paul Guernsey filled out the top four positions. On the ladies side, Campos-Calhoun earned $800 for first and Strickland took home $450 for second. Rachel Hurst and Deanna Henson filled out the top four.
