Day one of the 17th Annual International Challenge of Champions is complete at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Ct. Day one saw four players eliminated and four players remaining with hopes of winning the $50,000 winner take all event.
Niels Feijen eliminated reigning US Open Champion John Schmidt in two close matches 5-3 and 5-4. Things were not nearly as close between Lee Vann Corteza and Ralf Souquet as Corteza cruised to 5-2 and 5-1 wins.
Former World Champion Thorsten Hohmann eliminated reigning World Champion Ronnie Alcano 5-3 and 5-4 and Johnny Archer defeated Ching Shun Yang 5-4 and 5-0.
Thursday's matches will see Feijen take on Hohmann and Corteza take on Archer with the two winners playing for a $50,000 prize.
