Caroline Pao was always surrounded by pool when she was growing up in NJ and when she lived in the Philippines, but it wasn't until she returned to New York City for Graduate School in 1997 that she started to play pool. She then had to stop playing for a few years while making a go at the Corporate Life, but eventually she found her way back to the pool room and started competing on the J. Pechauer NorthEast Women's Tour in 2001.
Even through a change of career to become a Pastry Chef, Caroline managed to keep enough focus on pool to keep playing in leagues and Regional Tour events. She balanced her school life and pool life well enough to become the League Director at her local pool room, Corner Billiards.
Caroline especially enjoys competing in team sports and was a proud member of the 8-ball team that won the 2002 BCA National Women's Master Team event in Las Vegas.
Eventually Caroline made it her goal to concentrate on playing her best in the Regional Tour Qualifiers and succeeded with winning two Qualifiers in the 2005 season with JPNEWT. Now her goal for playing with the WPBA in 2006 will be to play her best pool at the Professional level and to challenge herself to achieve Touring Pro status by the year's end.
Caroline's most memorable moments on the Regional Tour have been the friendships she has forged with other women players and she really thanks them. She also thanks the support of her family, her friends, Corner Billiards, and Davie Luddy for helping her realize her dream.
Congratulations Caroline and good luck in 2006 on the WPBA tour!
