Day two of the Carolina Open has started and players such as Rafael Martinez, Gabe Owen, Sparky Ferrell, Robb Saez and Larry Nevel bested their opponents last evening, allowing them to continue to move through the winners side of the chart. The final eight on the winners side are matched up and will start play shortly. The matches are Earl Strickland v. Rafael Martinez; New England's Chuck Altomare v. Scott Rabon; Robb Saez v. Sparky Ferrell; and Larry Nevel v. Gabe Owen.
On the one-loss side, Russell Sassor will take on Shannon Daulton; Shaun Wilkie is matched up against Randy Epperson; and Wade Crane v. Louis Ulrich (Ulrich sent Mike Davis home this morning). Richie Richeson is waiting in the wings for his opponent from the remaining two local players.
Play continues throughout the day with winner's bracket matches at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. In addition to the nine-ball event beginning on Thursday, there will be a total of three players from the one-pocket division returning – the semi-finals will be played at 7:00 p.m. and the finals at 9:00 p.m.
