The fortieth stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was hosted at Miller Time Billiards, in Davenport, IA, on Saturday, May 26. The event featured a $500 added purse with thirty-four players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. 14 year-old Justin Morris (Cuba City, WI) ran undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Morris (rated a “4” on a regional handicap system used) slipped by Josh Johnson [6] (Bettendorf, IA) 4-4. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Morris outplayed Duke Dahl [4] (Maquoketa, IA) 4-3, while Johnson knocked off Rich Bideaux [5] (Moline, IL) 6-4. In the B-side quarterfinals Jesse Bowman [6] (E. Moline, IL) eliminated Bideaux 6-3; Bowman took out Anthony Garcia [4] 6-3 in the semifinals; and in the B-side finals Bowman continued his hot hand by topping Josh Johnson [6] 6-3. Jesse Bowman kept his streak going in the tourney finals, as he double-dipped Justin Morris [4] on the hill 6-1 and 6-3.
By virtue of Bowman meeting his free entry quota, and fourth-place Anthony Garcia being the highest-finishing ACS member after Bowman, Garcia qualified for a free 9-ball singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Silver Cup Chalk, Billiard Wholesalers and Pro Series Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour.
