Thirty-seven players arrived at Anastasia Billiards in St. Augustine for another round of Fury Amateur 9-Ball tour action on July 24, 2005. Leading the way was Matt Beauris, running through the field undefeated to reach his first win this season after many strong finishes.
Beauris shut out the rest of the field starting off with winning scores of 7-4, 7-1, 7-2, and 7-1 putting players like Johnny Reeves and John Tatum on the B-side. After his win over Tatum, Beauris landed in the hot seat match. Tour veteran Robert Otto was waiting for him after fighting his way through the bracket with scores of 7-6, 7-5, 7-4, and ending with a 7-6 win over Ramsey Barrett. Beauris proved to be too much for Otto and took the hot seat with a 7-4 win.
Otto was not finished though and jumped to the B-side and wiped out John Tatum with a 5-0 win to gain his place in a rematch against Beauris for the finals. Both players came into the final shooting strong but Beauris steadily pulled into the lead and stayed ahead by 2 games until the end, winning 9-7.
