Day five of the BCA Open 9-Ball Championships is complete and the TV rounds on Friday are now set.
In the women's semi-finals, #3 ranked Helena Thornfeldt will face #2 ranked Karen Corr. Thornfeldt lost to Corr 9-4 on the winners side Thurdsay, and then bounced back with a 9-6 win over Vivian Villarreal and then a 9-7 win over Shin-Mei Liu. Thornfeldt did not lead in the match against Liu until the 8-7 mark, but errors by Liu gave Thornfeldt the chance to score the win. After her victory over Thornfeldt, Corr lost 9-7 to Allison Fisher
The winner of the match between Thornfeldt and Corr will face #1 ranked Allison Fisher on Saturday.
The men's semi-finals will see Mika Immonen take on reigning US Open champion Ralf Souquet. Immonen lost to Johnny Archer on Wednesday, but won four matches on Thursday. He won matches over Nick Van Den Berg, Santos Sambajon, George Breedlove and then got vengeance over Archer in the final match on Thurdsay. Souquet lost 11-10 to Francisco Bustamante in the match for the hot-seat on Thurdsay.
The winner of the Immonen/Souquet match will face Bustamante on Saturday.
