Danny Basavich came back from the one-loss side to defeat Jeremy Jones twice and win the 2004 Reno Open held at the Sands Regency Resort and Casino in Reno, Nv.
Basavich dropped a hill-hill decision to Corey Deuel on Friday night, but came back with seven wins on the left side of the board to earn his spot in the finals. During those seven matches, Basavich scored impressive wins over Tony Chohan, Glenn Atwell, Charlie Bryant and Ernesto Dominguez.
Meanwhile, on the right side of the board, Jeremy Jones was having a great tournament. Jones scored a 9-7 win over Rodney Morris early in the event, and sent good friend Gabe Owen to join Morris a little later with a 9-8 win. Jones took the hot-seat with a 9-1 win over Mike Vidas, who definitely got some players' attention with his play this weekend.
Basavich would have to beat Jones twice in the finals and he did just that with 9-5 and 9-6 wins to earn the first place prize of $12,000. Jones settled for $5,500 in prize money. Vidas and Ernesto Dominguez filled out the top four spots.
