Romil Azemat has become a debut winner on the United States Snooker Association (USSA) Tour, by capturing Event 10 of the 2011-12 season, sponsored by Aramith Billiard Balls, with success this past weekend at the 4 Kaz Snooker Club & Bar in Las Vegas.
This may have been the first USSA Tour victory for the Arizona resident, but Azemat has been one of the top performers in United States snooker over the past few years with achievements such as runner-up in the 2006 United States National Snooker Championship, and he was also a member of the victorious Team USA that defeated Team Canada in the 2007 Can-Am Team Snooker Challenge.
Azemat's opponent in the final of this USSA Tour event, Piya Potanan, was also once a runner-up in the United States National Snooker Championship when he lost in the final of the 1996 event. Potanan's snooker pedigree was certainly on display as he battled away in a final that lasted for four hours and went all the way, with Azemat running out a close 4-3 winner.
The USSA would like to offer its thanks and appreciation to Joe Girdpool, the proprietor of the 4 Kaz Snooker Club & Bar, for his invaluable support in hosting two events on this season's USSA Tour, and to all the players who entered the event.
The 2011-12 USSA Tour next moves onto the Top 147 Snooker Club in Brooklyn, New York, for Event 11 over the weekend of April 7 & 8.
