The MissCues Regional Ladies Tour began (in March) and ended five stops later (on the weekend of November 3-4) at Janet Atwell's room, Borderline Billiards in Bristol, TN. Atwell won all of the tour's stops she attended; five of them, beginning with a victory over Buffy Jolie in the March season opener, and concluding with a victory over Samantha Patton in the season finale. The $250-added event drew a short field of 10 entrants.
It took Atwell five matches to secure the event title. In so doing, she allowed her five opponents a total of only four racks, with Samantha Patton, her finals opponent, winning half that number in the finals. Atwell got by Stephanie Goens 5-1, and shut out Jessica Human to move among the winners' side final four, and a match against Reni Rose, who'd been awarded an opening round bye and survived a double hill match against Teresa Gifford.
In the other winners' side semifinal, Marianne Merrill faced Patton. Merrill, after an opening round bye had defeated Tonya Wiser 5-3. Patton had shut out Melody Kuty and defeated Debbie Cervantes 5-2.
Atwell and Merrill sent Rose and Patton west by the same 5-1 score and faced each other in the battle for the hot seat. Atwell chalked up her second shutout, sending Merrill to the semifinals and sat in the hot seat, awaiting the return of Patton.
On the loss side, Rose picked up Wiser, who'd drawn a bye and defeated Cervantes 5-2. Patton drew Human, who'd gotten by Kuty 5-3 and Gifford 5-1. It was Wiser and Patton moving into the quarterfinals, once Wiser had eliminated Rose and Patton had downed Human, both 5-2.
By that same 5-2 score, Patton dropped Wiser into fourth place, and got a second shot at Merrill. She took full advantage of the opportunity, defeating Merrill 5-1 and turning to face the formidable Atwell. Though she chalked up as many racks against Atwell as all of her previous opponents combined, it was not enough as Atwell went on to win the race-to-7 final battle 7-2.
Tour Director Becky Todd extended thanks to all of the tour's host locations - Borderline Billiards, Bank Shot Billiards, 8-Ball Sports Bar and Billiards, Diamond Pub and Billiards - and Rack 66 for their support through the 2012 MissCues season. The tour will send Atwell, Teruko Cucculelli, Stephanie Goens, Jessica Karacia-Human, and Tonya Wiser to the WPBA 2012 Tour Championships at the Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, Oregon , beginning on Wednesday, November 7, and continuing through Sunday, November 11.
