Janet Atwell went undefeated through a field of 13 entrants, on hand for the October 1-2 stop of the MissCues Regional Ladies Tour. Her five-match journey through the $250-added event, hosted by Borderline Billiards in Bristol, TN, went through Buffy Jolie twice; once among the winners' side final four and again in the finals.
Following victories over Lisa Cossette and Tonya Wiser, Atwell faced Jolie for the first time. Jolie had arrived after victories over Jessica Human and a double hill win over the tour's last winner, Teruko Cucculelli. Teresa Gifford and Marianne Merrill completed the winners' side final four roster. Atwell sent Jolie west with a 7-5 victory, as Merrill got by Gifford 7-3. Atwell moved into the hot seat with a 7-5 victory over Merrill.
First up for Jolie in the west bracket was a second match against Human, who'd defeated Rene Rose and Becky Todd, both 7-5, to reach her again. Gifford drew Cucculelli, who'd survived a double hill battle against Stephanie Goens, and downed Wiser 7-2. Cuculelli shut out Gifford to get into the quarterfinals, and was joined by Jolie, who'd defeated Human 7-4.
Jolie gave up only three racks over the next two matches that put her into the finals. She gave up two in the quarterfinals versus Cuculelli, and only one in the semifinal matchup against Merrill. Atwell, though, ended Jolie's three-straight streak on the loss-side, defeating her 9-5 to complete her undefeated weekend and third win on the MissCues Regional Ladies Tour.
