Johnny Archer scored a 9-2 victory over Ronnie Wiseman in the finals to win the Molson Cup event at LeSkratch Billiards in Laval Canada.
The event, sponsored by Molson X and LeSkratch Billiards, actually got started in mid April when the field of 102 players was whittled down to eight players who came back this weekend to compete in the televised matches.
Archer got things underway this weekend, with a hill-hill victory over Alex Pagulayan in the match of the day. From there, he defeated Mario Morra who had upset Luc Salvas earlier in the day.
Wiseman got to the finals with wins over Dave Thompson and Alain Martel, but the finals were all Archer as he cruised to the victory.
Archer won $10,000 for first, while Wiseman settled for $5000 in second place prize money. Martel and Morra each received $3500 for third, and the remaining players collected $2000 each.
