It is fair to say that the Accu-Stats 8-Ball Invitational was dominated by Darren Appleton. The Champion never lost a single match while all others suffered at least two losses. This performance gives yet another lift to the Appleton boat, one that has already been riding high in the water for years. Here he proved that even a stellar field may be no match for his abilities.
To showcase precisely how tough these “Make It Happen” fields are just take a look at what happened here to Shane Van Boening and Mika Immonen, two of the world’s greatest players. Neither of them could eke out but a single win.
The skills exhibited this week were simply amazing. Earl performed his jacked-up spin the ball at sonic speed classic to ruin a cluster and get to the hill. All the players were in gear and errors were difficult to spot.
In the end what counts is records, and this is how they turned out this week:
Darren Appleton: 5 Wins, 0 Losses
Francisco Bustamante and Earl Strickland: 3 Wins, 2 Losses
Alex Pagulayan: 2 Wins, 3 Losses
Shane Van Boening and Mika Immonen: 1 Win, 4 Losses
Thanks to Pat Fleming and his crew at Accu-Stats, and to all of the fans who purchased packages to “Make It Happen”.
