ST. LOUIS, MO (February 17, 2011) — The Black Widow is coming back to New York. Jeanette Lee will make an appearance at Carom Café Billiards in Queens this coming Monday, Feb. 21, at 7pm as part of the APA Black Widow Tour. Earlier this week, Jeanette was featured in Manhattan's world-famous Times Square (image attached).
Originally born in Brooklyn, the Korean-American perfected her pool game in some of Manhattan's most well-know poolrooms, before leaving New York to pursue her career on the women's professional tour.
The APA Black Widow Tour is sponsored by the American Poolplayers Association (APA). The tour opened last month in Chicago to hundreds of fans and media personalities.
Additional tour stops include: Miami, Memphis, Dallas, Toronto and Seattle, with the final three cities determined by the APA areas that grow the most members by October 15.
Fans will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Black Widow as she performs trick shots, signs autographs and even plays a few brave challengers in a game of pool. Admission is free and open to the public.
Lee is the official spokesperson for the American Poolplayers Association (APA) and encourages people of any age and athletic background to participate in the sport of pool through APA Leagues.
“I'm so excited to return to New York City. I have so many friends and family there, it's going to be awesome show,” said Jeanette Lee.
The APA, based in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., sanctions the world's largest amateur pool league, known as the APA Pool League throughout the United States, and as the Canadian Pool League in Canada. More than 270,000 members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9-Ball league play. The APA is generally recognized as the Governing Body of Amateur Pool, having established the official rules, championships, formats and handicap systems for the sport of amateur billiards.
The APA produces three major tournaments each year—the APA National Team Championships, the APA National Singles Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championship—that, together, pay out nearly $1.5 Million in cash and prizes annually!
