Jasmin Ouschan just won the Treviso Women Open in BHR Best Western Hotel in Treviso, Italy, with a 7:3 victory over Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL).
The final match started with an expected lead for Ouschan. Khodjaeva seemed to be nervous since she missed several possible shots. However, during the course of the match Khodjaeva stayed within close range to Ouschan and the Austrian suddenly started making unnecessary mistakes. When leading 3:2, Ouschan missed an easy 7-ball and allowed Khodjaeva to tie the match at 3:3. After having taken her time-out, Ouschan still seemed to be a bit off track. She missed shots and ran out of position. That all allowed Khodjaeva to keep the match open for a while. However, Ouschan turned out to be the stronger player today since Khodjaeva could not benefit from Ouschan’s mistakes as the match continued. Ouschan did not necessarily play her best pool but Khodjaeva was not able to turn the tide in the match. Finally, Jasmin Ouschan did not allow Kamila Khodjaeva any more point and took the match with a convincing 7:3 result over her opponent.
In the semi-finals, Ouschan had no problems with Katarzyna Wesolowska (POL). She dominated the table and took Wesolowska down with 7:4. Khodjaeva had some more work to do in that round. She wrestled down Veronika Ivanovskaia (GER) in a tough match with 7:5.
Another remarkable result from today happened in the quarter-finals. Wesolowska played Kristina Grim (GER) who just ousted favoured Kristina Tkach with 7:6 the round before and she was already leading 6:1 when Grim fought back. The German lady pulled back rack after rack from Wesolowska who seemed to not be able to finish the match off. After 12 racks, the score was even 6:6. Grim was at the table and had all balls in a nice layout in front of her. However, she missed an unbelievably easy 7-ball and left a tough situation for Wesolowska. The Polish took her time and went for a one-rail-shot into the corner pocket. She missed that shot but the 7-ball fell in the side pocket after two rails. What a shock for Grim after that brilliant comeback. Wesolowska excused herself, pocketed the remaining two balls on the slate and advanced to the semi-finals, leaving a disappointed Grim at the table.
