The final day of Amway Cup qualification saw Taipei's Pei Chun Lin take advantage of nervous errors by Shin Jui He to capture the 7th spot into the main event. He had looked strong after a 7-0 win over reigning Junior Champion Keng Cheng Lin and then a 7-4 win over Kyoko Sone to make it into the finals, but misses on the 8-ball at 4-4 and 4-6 were too much for He to surmount as she dropped the match 7-4.
The eighth and final spot went to Japan's Kaneko Sayuri, who upended Shi Pei He 7-6 and then Yukawa Keiko 7-5 to earn the spot.
The first full day of play from the main event is also in the books, and reigning Champion Chieh-Yu Chou is looking strong with a 3-0 record.
Last year's runner-up, Karen Corr, is 1-1 with a win over Maureen Seto and a loss to Pei Chun Lin.
Other notables in the event are reigning World Champion Sha Sha Liu (2-0), Allison Fisher (1-1), WPBA #1 ranked Ga-Young Kim (1-1), 2009 Player of the Year Jasmin Ouschan (2-0) and newly crowned WPBA Regional Tour Champion Shu-Han Chang (2-1).
