Group play is complete at the fifteenth Amway Open, and the field has now been narrowed to just twenty four players. Taipei's Shin Mei Liu and Japan's Akimi Kajitani have both played in this event every year, but neither player qualified for the final twenty four this time. Liu lost to Yu Ram Cha and Jeanette Lee in the group stages.
Another player who saw an early exit from this event was 2010 World Champion Xiao Fang Fu. Fu dropped matches to 2009 Champion Chieh Yu Chou and Korea's Bo Ra Jung.
Two players who made their way into the final twenty four will relative ease were Kelly Fisher and Jasmin Ouschan. Both players were undefeated in their group stages, including a lopsided 7-1 win by Ouschan over 2008 World Champion Yuan Chun Lin. Fisher and Ouschan's strong play earned them both byes in the final bracket. They are joined by Ga Young Kim, XIao Ting Pan, Yu Ram Ca, Si Meng Chen, Chien Wei Tzu and Chou with first round byes.
