Amanda Lampert of San Antonio defended the Alamo City with her first Tour victory as twenty two ladies descended on San Antonio for the second stop of The Fast Eddie's 9 Ball Tour 2004 on Sunday, February 22.
Anne Mayes, artisan and creator of Annie "O" Custom Cues, donated a beautiful example of her work to be raffled with $600 being raised to go towards the add on for the ladies division. Annie, we can't thank you enough for your support!
The top picks of the field were Amanda Lampert, Heather Pulford, June Walter, Deanna Henson and Melinda Bailey. Missing from the player list, but in attendance to support the ladies, was Audra Carter, who had an unfortunate accident with slick rain soaked stairs and gravity, with the end result being a broken wrist. Heal up quickly and get back to the table, Audra!
June Walter of Creative Vinyl Signs and Teedaa Clarke, who recently returned to SA from Dallas, had good performances to finish in the 5-6th positions.
Anne Mayes of Houston popped up in the fourth position with a fine appearance considering her recent eye surgery.
Kim Sanders of San Antonio started her campaign with successes over Melissa Ann Andrade and Teedaa Clarke before succumbing to Shayla Neris. On the one loss side, Kim prevailed over Sharon Townsend, Heather Pulford, June Walter and Anne Mayes before failing to win against Shayla Neris to finish for a well fought third place finish.
Shayla Neris of Austin over took Kim Pierce, Nicole Menitz, Kim Sanders, Anne Mayes to meet Amanda Lampert in the finals of the winners bracket. A hard fought battle ensued, 7-5, with Shayla being sent to the brutal bracket to, again, beat Kim Sanders for the right to play Amanda for the finals. A very determined Amanda Lampert showed the talent which made her BCA Lady Single Champion a few years ago with conquests over Bye, Melinda Bailey, Jennifer Kraber, June Walter and Shayla Neris to jump into the hot seat.
This set up the finals with Shayla coming off the one loss side to play Amanda for all the cookies. Both ladies played authoratively and methodical in a seesaw confrontation which ended with Amanda prevailing, 7-5.
