A field of 46 players descended on Raxx Pool Room in West Hempstead, NY on the weekend of December 8th and 9th for the weekend stop on the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour.
Chuck Altomare proved to be the man to beat on this weekend. He had his way with Jason Michas 9-3 in the hot-seat match, sending Michas to the left side of the board.
On the one loss side, Michas took an early lead over Eddie Abraham and then held off a late charge to win the match 9-8 and earn another shot against Altomare in the finals.
The finals saw Michas start out hot and take an early 6-3 lead. Six games would be all that Michas would get though, as Altomare won six straight games for the 9-6 win.
Altomare earned $1580 for first, while Michas took home $1100 in second place prize money.
The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will now take their customary break and return on January 19th and 20th at Diamond Eight Billiards in Albany, NY. Mike Zuglan is taking sign-ups for the Turning Stone Classic X 9-Ball Open at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY on February 21 - 24. This event is limited to 128 players and filling fast. Zuglan can be reached at 518-356-7163.
