The WPBA Canadian Classic is underway at Casino Windsor in Windsor Ontario Canada and day one has had one upset and one near upset so far.
In the one upset so far, reigning Regional Tour Champion Hsin Huang took an early lead and held of a late charge by Ewa Laurance to win the match 9-8. Huang will take on the winner of the match between Jennifer Chen and Saeko Mori while Laurance will face the loser of that match.
The biggest news of the day was the match between #1 ranked Allison Fisher and the player that most expect to follow in her footsteps, Kelly Fisher. Fisher, sponsored on tour by Fury Cues, stunned the crowd by taking what looked like an imsurmountable 8-2 lead in the alternating break format match. She eventually learned that it is easier to take the lead over Allison than it is to close her out as Allison clawed her way back and won the match 9-8. Allison will take on Helene Caukin next, while Kelly faces Megan Minerich.
