The Michigan Women's 9-Ball Tour held their season finale at The Billiard Café in Battle Creek Michigan, where the field of 26 players would see if they could keep Rachael Abbink from the finals where she has been a regular fixture all season long.
Abbink had won four of the last six stops on tour and appeared to be on her way to yet another hot-seat when Gail Grecar stepped up and derailed Abbink's plans. Grecar handed Abbink a ticket to the left side of the board with a 7-5 loss.
On the one-loss side, Abbink faced off with Alice Rim and lost another 7-5 match. This set up the final match between Rim and Grecar. Since Rim is already a WPBA touring pro, the WPBA Canadian Classic qualifier went to Grecar.
The final match was close, but it was Rim scoring the 9-6 win for the tournament victory.
Rim won $425 for first, while Grecar had to settle for $275 and the qualifier. Abbink and Julie Melman filled out the top four spots.
The Michigan Women's 9-Ball Tour will start their next season in September with the Michican State Women's Championship. We will have more details on exact scheduling and venue soon.
