October 25 saw the Fast Eddies Olhausen 9 Ball Tour make it out west to Odessa Texas. It is a friendly place.
The field was a bit light this time with only 32 players, but, we had fun.
Finishing in the 7-8th positions were, Jimmy Thorton and Denny Sneed. Both played well and took home $130.00 in hard earned money.
The 5-6th slots were claimed by Gary Derrick and Ramon Rodriguez. Both these proved good players and earned every penny of the $195.00.
The elusive 4th place finisher was none other than Odessa's own Champ Massengil. Champ is a good player and loves the game. He took home 260.00 for his efforts.
The 3rd place finish was awarded to Sean Black. Sean played well all weekend and improving daily. Sean took home, $390.00.
To earn the hot seat pitted Al Mason and Steve Davenport against each other. Al won the match and Steve vowed to be back for the finals and did just that.
In the finals against Al, a Texas Legend, Al proved just too much for Steve as Al won the match 9-6 and as he put it ended the Fast Eddies Jinx. In 6 years Al has finished in every position except to win one. Now the jinx is over and I am sure Al will be heard from again.
For 2nd place Steve collected $520.00 and Al took home $750.00.
A very special thanks to Olhausen Billiards for their continued contribution. They are the best.
Also to Paul Sumrall for sponsoring by adding an S&S cue each month to be raffled to help recoup some of the Add-On money. He has a great cue and is very generous.
Robbie Timms of Behind the 8 ball was there with Jeff Ridel and we appreciate their support as well.
A special thanks to Arlene the day mgr at Fast Eddies. You were a huge help and we appreciate it so much.
Last but hardly least, thanks to Fast Eddies ownership for facilitation and sponsoring the Tour for it's 7th year. Without you, there would be no tour.
The last regular season event will be November 15-16 in Lafayette LA. This place is big fun and we are anxious to go. See you there. For more questions about November call Lewis Jones at 210-367-4761.
