The ACUI Championships started with a field of 30 men and 21 women in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday. As of Saturday afternoon, the field is narrowed to the Final Four Men and Final Four Women.
Emilyn Callado of Lesley College defeated Theresa Bell of the University of Akron (7-0) in the ACUI Women's Division Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Delia Mocanu of New Mexico Tech defeated Aileen Nguyen of Emory University (7-5). Bell and Nguyen go home with 5th-6th place.
Purdue's Linsdsey Dorn won the hot seat match over long-distance traveler Cindy Higa, representing the University of Hawaii-Manoa (7-3). Emilyn is now playing Delia for 3rd/4th, and the winner will face Cindy.
In the Men's Division, Mitchell Trainham of Virginia Commonwealth University defeated Jason Burns of Clark State Community College (8-1). Meanwhile, Miami Dade College's Raymond Linares defeated Jon Strzezewski of Wilbur Wright College (8-5). Burns and Strzezewski finished in 5th-6th place.
Tommy Najar, representing New Mexicot State University, sent Kent State University's Adam Ausperk to the One-Loss side in the hot seat match (8-3). Mitchell is now playing Raymond for 3rd/4th, and the winner will face Adam.
