Dating back as far as February, Michael Fuller and B.J. Ussery have faced each other in the finals of the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour five times. Fuller has won all five times; twice, undefeated, and three times, including the most recent, $1,000-added event at On the Snap Billiards in Fuquay Varina, NC, on the weekend of May 21-22, from the one-loss side. All five of these events have drawn a total of 29 entrants, with the last two (May 1st & May 22nd) drawing three entrants each.
Ussery drew a bye in the opening round of play, as Fuller took on Keith Bennett. Fuller moved Bennett to the semifinals with an 8-3 victory, and for only the second time in the last five stops on the tour, Fuller and Ussery met in the hot seat match. In their last hot seat matchup, in early May, Fuller got into the hot seat following a double hill battle. This time, Ussery gave up only a single rack in a decisive 8-1 victory that left him in the hot seat.
Fuller moved over to take on Bennett in the event semifinals, only to discover that Bennett was nowhere to be found. Fuller won a forfeit victory and got a second chance against Ussery in a race-to-11 finals.
Fuller won the opening game, but Ussery won the next three. Fuller came back with a three-pack of his own to go up by one 4-3. Ussery won the next two to take a 5-4 lead, but Fuller tied it up and then won six straight to capture his fifth, $1,000 first prize on the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour in the last four months.
There were no mini-tournaments, no break contest, and no break and run contest, which has left the jackpot for that event at $500. Brian Floyd was the raffle winner of a $500 Limited Edition Jacoby Custom Cue.
