The Richmond Billiard Tour held their first event of the new year on January 10th at Murphy's Law II, located in Midlothian Virginia.
The field of twenty six players contained several newcomers, including one very surprised room owner. Murphy's Law owner Jennifer Hicks had planned on hosting the event as usual, but after much arm twisting from her friends she decided to throw her hat in the ring and compete in her first tournament ever. And to her surprise, Hicks turned in a third place finish for a $75 payday.
Hicks was finally eliminated from the event by a very talented Bobby Hingle. Hingle had just lost to Joshua Dickerson for the hot-seat 5-2, and he took out the frustrations from that loss on Hicks.
After the win over Hicks, Hingle faced off against Dickerson again in the finals. Unfortunately for Hingle, the finals were more of the same as Dickerson scored a lopsided 7-1 win for first place.
Dickerson, better known as the Promoter of the Virginia State 9-Ball Championship, took home $200 for first. Hingle settled for $120.
Tour director David Donovan wanted to send special thanks to Sheri Bruner and Kevin Usery for their support and hard work in helping to run the tournament. Through their efforts the tournament ran very smooth and was very successful.
