On Sunday, February 3, 2008, the KBP Amateur Billiard 9-Ball Tour brought in a total of thirty-six players to Stroker's Billiards in Palm Harbor, Florida, for its first stop of the new season. This $500 added event saw great play all day.
The final three players had beautiful runs throughout the tournament. Billy Moses ended his tournament in a respectable third place finish after going undefeated throughout the winners side of the bracket until he ran into eventual tournament champ Elvis Rodriguez. In the hot-seat, Rodriguez forced Moses to the one-loss side by a score of 7-2. On the one-loss side, he waited for his eventual opponent, Bobby Livrago who had had a long day of his own.
Livrago started his day with a Bye, followed by a second round loss to Hal Schaffer. After a slow start on the one-loss side with another Bye round, he was on his way to dominating that side of the brackets for the remainder of the day. Livrago took down opponent after opponent with none reaching more than three games (Woodie Harrell 5-2; John Curtis 5-0; Paul LeCain 5-0; Trevor Heal 5-1; David Palmieri 5-3; Jose Delrio 5-2; and Ivan Ambrocu 5-3); until he ran into Moses in the semi-final round. Billy Moses fought hard to push past Livrago, but Moses was unable to stop him – the race ended 5-4 sending Livrago into the final round against Elvis Rodriguez.
Rodriguez had already accomplished an undefeated trip through the bracket with wins over Casey Grove 7-6; Chris Phillips 7-5; John Curtis 7-1; T.J. Fiornanelli 7-1; Jose DelRio 7-2; and Billy Moses 7-2. The final round went Rodriguez' way as well as he finished off Livrago in the end 9-5.
