As day four winds down at the US Open 9-Ball Championship, members of the new breed of players are making their marks.
Louis Ulrich, who has been hot for the past two months, stunned the crowd with an 11-7 win over Alex Pagulayan in the Chalk Off Arena. Ulrich held off two comeback attempts from Pagulayan and then made an outstanding jump on the two-ball to run out the final rack.
In other action, longtime road player James Walden scored a dominating 11-1 win over defending champion John Schmidt. Walden will face Rodolfo Luat on Thursday.
Former champion Corey Deuel came back to defeat Jonni Fulcher 11-10 and in the longest match of the night, Shannon Daulton defeated Nick Varner 11-9 in a little over four hours.
