Borderline Billiards in Bristol, TN welcomed The Jacoby Cues Great Lakes for stop # 2 of the 07-08 season in style. The room, which is owned and operated by WPBA touring pro Janet Atwell is one of the nicest rooms anywhere with its great equipment and full service bar. Players came from all over the US, Canada and England to compete for the WPBA qualifier and $500.00 in added prize money.
Saturday play saw 15 yr old phenom Liz Lovely of Dayton Ohio taking out her first three opponents with out a scare with scores of 7-3 over Tina Hess, Sunny Ulrich 7-3, and Leanne Amable 7-0, to take her to the Sunday winner side final to face Atlanta GA's Betty Sessions who had posted identical scores of 7-4 in her first three matches against Dana Aft, Amy Chen, and Birmingham England's Maria Catalano. Catalano would bounce back on Sunday besting Sunny Ulrich 7-2, and Leanne Amable 7-2, before being stopped in a nail biting semi-final with her second loss to Betty Sessions by a score of 7-6.
This would set the finals and a rematch for Sessions against Lovely who had defeated her earlier with little incident, it would not be so easy for Lovely this time. Sessions came out on fire,, pitching a shut out for the first 7 racks before Lovely could win a game and start a fire of her own giving up only one more game on her way to the tours biggest come back with a final score of 9-8 giving her the win and WPBA qualifier.
