On August 26th, Numan's in Johnson City, Tennessee hosted a $1000 added eight ball event that brought out some of the top local players, including WPBA player Janet Atwell and fourteen year old phenom Corbin Coe from close-by Boone, North Carolina.
The races were to five during the event with a finals match race to nine. It would be the die hard players that would make it to the semi-finals and final matches as they were still playing well into the early morning to see who would ultimately triumph. One of those die hard players was eventual tournament winner Harold Ewing. He initially won the winner's bracket hot-seat match and waited for his opportunity to match-up against Bernie Kirby. Although the final race was tight, it would be Ewing that would oust Kirby with a score of 9-7 and for the win.
