The Great Southern Billiard Tour kicked off with the Choo Choo Classic II at The Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga, TN.
The field of fourty four players included four junior players, but one in particular was the focus of attention at this event. Thirteen year old Landon Shuffett was cutting a swath through the winners side not allowing an opponent to notch more than four games against him all the way up to the match for the hot-seat. That streak was finally brough to an end when Brandon Ashcraft defeated Shuffet 9-8 for the hot-seat.
On the one loss side, Shuffett's tournament was brough to an end by Russ Edwards with a 9-4 score. The win over Shuffett sent Edwards to the finals to face Ashcraft, but Edwards would have to settle for second place as Ashcraft would win the final match 9-7.
Ashcraft collected $2500 for first place, while Edwards pocketed $1455 for second. Shuffett and Wade Crane filled out the top four spots.
