The 9th stop of the Kings Bay Promotions Central Florida Amateur 9-Ball tour was held Stroker's Billiards in Palm Harbor, FL on July 9, 2006. Players from various area of Florida showed up to participate in this event. Matt Bauries showed his skill as he emerged as victorious in the 44-player field. Bauries did not have an easy time in the double-elimination event and has participated in several other events to have this one be his First Top Finish of the season.
Richie Orem worked his way in the top half of the bracket to face Bauries who had went through the bottom half for hot seat. Orem won the King of the Hill spot with a 7-4 win. While Orem and Bauries was working on the Hot Seat match Brian Davalos and Julio Delpozo was working on the quaterfinals match showing that the players were even in playing ability until Delpozo was able to pull ahead and take the victory in double-hill match. Delpozo went on the semi final match to fact Bauries and with much skill and determination Bauries left Delpozo in 3rd place 5-2.
Three women played in this event, Tracie Hines, Gail Grecar and Echo Pinkley with Tracie working her way through the bracket and ending her day in 6th place after a lost to Davalos. This was Grecar first KBP event and she was really working her way through the bracket showing her skill for the competition. Pinkely is a long time player on many of the KBP events and her matches went well considering the competition.
The final race to 9 had spectators on the edge of their seats at the score stayed even in the frist 4 games. The 5th games Bauries was able to pull ahead and kept the lead for the next 2 games bringing the score 8-4. Orem then took the next game looking for a comeback in bringing the score up to 8-5. Bauries had the next break and finished off the match by making the 9 on the break to win 9-5.
