With a 9-7 win over Shawn Putnam on Sunday morning, Marlon Manalo captured the hot-seat at the 2005 Reno Open.
Manalo dominated his early round matches with the exception of a hill-hill win over Kings Santy in round 3. Manalo continued on and score impressive wins over Glenn Atwell, Mark Haddad and Santos Sambajon to earn his place in the quarter final match against Putnam. Putnam was just coming off a 9-1 win over West Coast powerhouse Tony Chohan, but he didn't have an answer for Manalo.
Putnam will now face Chohan again on the one-loss side, with the winner facing Manalo in the finals for the $12,000 first prize.
