Jay Kauffman, owner of Instant Replay Bar and Billiards, took advantage of the home court to capture The New York State 8 Ball Championship. Kauffman came back twice from 4-1 deficits throughout the tournament. Runner up Scott Casagrande sent Kauffman to the one loss side and had to wait while Kauffman and Ray McDermott battled to a hill-hill classic.
In the finals, Casagrande jumped out to an early lead, but Kauffman, who is one of Long Island's best bar table 8 Ball players, never gave up and out moved Casagrande. At hill-hill, Scott got into a cat and mouse game with Kauffman, which turned out to be a mistake.
Once again Kim Segal mad a strong showing, as did Bernie Friend.
The C2BarBox staff wants to wish Kim and Scott good luck next weekend at their US Amateur qualifiers. Casagrande will qualify in PA, while Segal heads to CT.
