With a 9-6 final success over reigning World Champion and German fellow-countryman Thorsten Hohmann, Dueren-based Thomas Engert has won the title at the Dynamic Italy Open in Monfalcone, the very first tour stop of the Diamond 9 Series in 2004. Third places in this nearly 180 players from 20 different countries strong field went to Oliver Ortmann (also GER) and Dutch Alex Lely. With this triumph Engert not only underlined his presently shown top-form after winning the European 9-Ball crown six weeks ago. He further moved forward in the Eurotour overall rankings, where he is now notified on the 3rd place. Even better, things went for runner-up Hohmann, who took over the overall-lead, after former leader Tom Storm (SWE) has finished 17th in Monfalcone.
The promoter of this event showed highly satisfied both with the feedback of the players and the smooth organisation on-spot. So it is allowed to look forward to the next summit meeting of the European pool-elite, which will be staged in Sindelfingen (GER) in about only two weeks.
What are the winner's thoughts after his triumph and who can already be glad about his successful qualification for the World Pool Championships? Answers on these questions and many more interesting news will be found in the brand-new Eurotour Newsletter to be published for the first time within the next few days.
