Day one of the Viking Cue National Championship is nearing completion with all of the top seeds advancing.
Larry Nevel got his bid for a repeat underway with an 11-4 win over 'The Professor' Grady Mathews and will face Chris Bartrum on Thursday. Other players advancing on Wednesday were Earl Strickland, Ryan McCreesh, Danny Medina, Tony Watson, Dee Adkins, Shane McMinn and Danny Basavich.
While Nevel tries to repeat at this event, it will be Shannon Daulton attempting to regain the crown that he won in 2001. Daulton has been out of the spotlight for a few months and fans have been wondering where he has been. Daulton explained that he is now a player rep for Seagull Custom Cues and is the housepro at Breakers Sports Bar and Grill in Knoxville, Tennessee. In additon to all of that, he is engaged to be married. Daulton will play Skip Shumate Thursday at noon.
Brackets are drawn and will be updated all week long.
