Thorsten Hohmann
Thorsten Hohmann came from the B Side in exciting fashion to win the 2014 Inaugural Manny Pacquiao Cup Ten Ball Singles event.
Ninety two players started play this past Tuesday in General Santos City, and the field played down to four players. Both Dennis Orcollo and Hohmann had one loss, but the last four players redrew into a single elimination bracket. Roberto Gomez knocked off Orcollo 11 - 9 and Hohmann beat Romeo Silvano 11- 8.
The final race to 13 produced some spectacular pool, along with a roller coaster of emotions for both players. After being tied at 4-4, Hohmann quickly found himself trailing 12-7. Gomez was on the hill in an alternate break format but the 2013 World 9-ball Champion gutted out a fantastic win by reeling off 6 consecutive games to pick up the first place prize of 12k USD .
This event was rack your own, magic rack , no call shot format. Next up starting Wednesday at 10 AM at the General Santos City SM Mall will be the doubles Ten Ball event , 100K GTD , 40k USD for first place.
