Pool Removed From Asian Games

A report today in the Philippine Daily Inquirer informs us that pool has been removed from the areas of competition in the Asian Games.

According to About.com "The Asian Games are Asia’s version of the Olympic Games and are the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics. The Asian Games, also called Asiad, were formed after World War II when newly independent Asian countries wanted to host an event that would unite Asian countries through sports. The Games are overseen by the Olympic Council of Asia with oversight from the International Olympic Committee."

The Asian Olympic Council has now decided to remove billiards, dancesports, chess and muay. At the last Asian Games Dennis Orcollo won the Gold medal by defeating Warren Kiamco in the finals.

Obviously, this will do little to assist those whose goals include the inclusion of billiards in the Olympic Games.
