WPA Sanctions U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships

The World Pool Association has once more sanctioned the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship. The Open will be held again this year at the Marriott Hotel on Woodlake Dr. in Chesapeake October 13-18.

This sanction will allow players to earn WPA ranking points by competing in the Open. This event, due to the $75,000 in added money, will be a Tier II World Event and as such awards higher player points than events with less added money. Thus the Open becomes an event of interest to the top 16 players in the world, who are passionate about maintaining their status, and to all international players who are seeking to move up in the rankings.

The WPA confirmed today with AZB that the sanction has been officially granted. AZB would like to point out to interested players that the field this year is limited to 128 competitors and we feel that field may fill quickly now that international players will be compelled to attend.
