The Ladies Spirit Tour drew 33 players to World Famous Sports Cafe and Billiards in Delray Beach Florida this weekend for a WPBA qualfiier for the Cuetec Cues Florida Classic in September.
At the close of play on Saturday, the biggest upset was #1 ranked Jeannie Seaver falling to Ming Ng 7-6. This left #2 ranked Tracie Hines on the winners side as the top seed. Apparently, no one told co-tour director Bonnie Coats that Hines was the favorite as she beat Tracie 7-5 and then beat Debbie Schjodt 7-5 for the hot-seat.
On the one-loss side, Seaver was a woman on a mission to defend her ranking on the points list. Seaver came back on Sunday with five wins to earn her place in the finals. Seaver has long been known as 'The Comeback Kid', and a win from the one-loss side is nothing new for her. Unfortunately for Seaver, Coats earned her new nickname 'The Giant Killer' at this event, as she scored a 7-6 win over Seaver in the finals. It was Coats first tour win since the Ladies Spirit Tour was formed.
Coats pocketed $575 in addition to the WPBA qualifier, while Seaver took home $425 for second place. Schjodt and Dawn Fox filled out the top four spots.
The Ladies Spirit Tour will be Anastasia Billiard Room in St. Augustine, FL on July 24th-25th for their next event.
