The Pechauer West Coast Tour held their latest stop at Sunset Family Billiards in Renton, WA with a field of 63 players including a visitor who came all the way from Florida. Nick Varner made the trip and competed with the top players on the west coast.
Varner had a fight on his hands for the hot-seat with Mike Vidas. Vidas had the lead 6-3 in the match but was unable to put it away as Varner came back to win the match 9-8. Vidas fell to Dan Louie on the one-loss side to set up the finals between Louie and Varner.
The finals were a "back and forth" affair that saw Varner holding a slim 6-5 lead before he took a break. After the break, Varner put on an exhibition in top level 9-ball play as he won the next seven games for the 13-5 win.
Varner collected $1350 for first, while Louie settled for $900 in second place prize money. Vidas and Rafael Martinez filled out the top four spots.
The Pechauer tour will be at McQ's Billiards in Spokane, WA for their next event on April 5th - 6th 2003.
