The 7th stop of this year's J. Pechauer Custom Cues Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour was held last weekend in beautiful and historical Haywood County North Carolina. The host room was The Crooked Cue in Waynesville near the Pisagh National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway in the western section of NC. In addition to a hot pool and billiard playing area, this part of North Carolina also has a growing arts community. An additional $1000 was added for a total payout of $2075.
The two day event had on it's player roster some of the finest pool players in the southern region including BJ Ussery, Ron Parks, Tommy Kennedy and Dave Maddux among others. There were a total of 33 players and as customary, the top junior and women's player each received $50. Coming from the one-loss braket and after posting wins against Brian White (9-6) in the quarter-finals, a (9-6) match against BJ Ussery in the semi's and a decisive (11-6) win in the finals over Jeff Abernathy, Tommy Kennedy prevailed to win the $750 first place prize. The tour wishes to thank Mr. Frady, his family and staff for a wonderful event and weekend.
