The main event at the 16th Annual Music City Classic got underway at JOB Billiards in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday evening with 71 players competing and a great marquee matchup scheduled already.
Max Eberle and Shannon Daulton battled it out just four days ago in Louisville at the finals of the Derby City Classic and they will do battle again in the second round of this event. Daulton won the match in Louisville 7-3 to win the 9-ball division of that tournament. This time, it will be a race to 11 on a bar table. Daulton is a two time winner at this event and Eberle ended 2002 with a tournament win at Hard Times in Sacramento and has been playing great 9-ball the last month.
Other top players in Nashville include Johnny Archer, Cliff Joyner, returning champion Scott Frost, Nick Varner, Jose Parica, Viking Tour player of the year Shawn Putnam, Derby City Banks winner Danny Harriman, Troy Frank, Jimmy Reid, Marcus Chamat, Rafael Martinez, Gabe Owen and Amar Kang.
The action actually got underway Tuesday night in Nashville as 43 players competed in the mini tournament. Johnny Archer defeated Rafael Martinez in the finals for the win while Gabe Owen and John Schmidt filled out the top four spots. Archer collected $400 for the win.
Brackets for the main event are online and we will have daily updates all week and weekend.
