The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour was at Salt City Billiards in North Syracuse, NY with a field of 27 players.
The hot-seat was taken by Karen Corr with a 9-4 win over Jose Mendez. Corr has won one previous Joss Tour event and that was last season at Ultimate Billiards Club in Berlin, CT. In that event, she came back from the one-loss side and defeated Jim Rempe twice in the finals. It would only be fitting that her opponent this week in the finals would be the same player, Jim Rempe.
Rempe lost his second match of the event to Ian Costello, but came back with four match wins before exacting his revenge on Costello. Rempe's next victim was 'The Earthquake' Keith McCready and then Rempe dispatched Mendez in the semi-finals.
Rempe didn't miss a beat as he rolled to a 9-2 win in the first set of the finals. The second set was a true marathon that went to hill-hill. The final game of the set lasted nearly an hour with both players taking no chances, but at the end of the game it was Rempe raising his hand in victory.
Rempe collected $1160 for first, while Corr settled for $800. Mendez and McCready filled out the top four spots.
The Joss NE 9-Ball Tour will be at T.J.'s Classic Billiards in Waterville, Maine next weekend for a $3000 added event.
